If they are looking for demo cars, Perth based drivers should check out the Subaru Impreza. The newer cars are part of the 5th generation line up, and they are packed with the latest technology and safety equipment. This incarnation of the ever popular family car landed on Australian shores back in 2016, and there are demo or pre-owned cars available for sale at City Subaru now. Let’s take a closer look at what the Subaru Impreza has to offer so that you can make an informed purchasing decision.
A Brief Overview
The Subaru Impreza is available as a four door saloon or five door hatch. Both variants are powered by a single drivetrain and have the signature Subaru all wheel drive system for surefooted stability.
The entry level model is the 2.0i and it includes plenty of equipment as standard, such as a 6.5” infotainment screen, cruise control, paddle gear shifters, air conditioning, a reversing camera, privacy glass, Bluetooth connectivity, audio streaming, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and a set of 17” alloy wheels.
There are eight choices of colours available including finishes, such as pearl, mica, metallic and solid, which are all available at on additional cost. The only engine available is a sprightly 2.0L “Boxer” petrol power plant that generates 115 kW of power and 196 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission which drives an all wheel drive system.
Driver Assistance and Safety Features
Subaru has always been at the forefront of driver assistance and safety technology. The Impreza is no exception, it includes safety features, such as traction control, stability control, anti lock brakes with braking assist, electronic brake force distribution, tyre pressure monitoring and a reversing camera. In the event of a collision, there are front, rear and side curtain airbags, plus a knee bag for the driver.
If you stretch your budget to the 2.0i-L you will also receive the celebrated EyeSight safety suite which adds even more features, such as adaptive cruise control, brake light recognition, lead vehicle alert start (a great feature in slow moving traffic), throttle management assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and pre-collision brake assist.
If you take another step up to the top of the range 2.0i-S, the EyeSight safety system adds even more features, such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist, reverse automatic braking, automatic headlight high beams, and torque vectoring.
Comfort and Infotainment
The 6.5” infotainment screen is standard on the 2.0i, but from the 2.0i-L upwards this is upgraded to an 8” unit. More premium variants also add leather wrapped steering wheels and gear shifters. Further up the range, you can find other features, such as illuminated mirrors, folding exterior mirrors, dual zone aircon, premium cloth trim, a pair of USB ports, a 4.2” LCD readout display, a 6.3” multifunction screen, satellite navigation, and a sunroof. As you can see, the Impreza ticks a lot of boxes, it has excellent safety features, and there is a model to suit every pocket. As a demo car, they are a fantastic value proposition for the driver that enjoys a bargain.
