Subaru Unveil the New WRX STI S207 Limited Edition

The Tokyo motor show has just finished and Subaru have had an exciting event. One of their most anticipated reveals was the new limited edition of the Subaru WRX STI. Although this car (which has been designated as the S207) is only scheduled for a Japanese release, it is always interesting to see what Subaru are up to. This is because many Subaru vehicles that have been released in recent years have had their technology incorporated into Australian bound models later. So what does this new limited edition have to offer?

Superb Enhanced Performance:

One of the key areas that is always closely scrutinised with a car of this prestigious heritage is of course performance. The new limited edition has had some significant tweaks from the Subaru boffins. They have managed to raise the power from 227kW up to 241kW and the torque has been raised from 422Nm up to 431Nm. Other performance enhancements include a revised front suspension with adjustable dampening, front-rear active torque vectoring, a revised steering setup that has an 11:1 ratio and a flexible tower bar for good measure.

Crisp Brembo Braking:

All the power and performance in the world is useless if the braking system isn’t up to snuff. The brakes on the standard WRX STI are excellent, but Subaru have really pushed the boat out on the S207. The Brembo braking package that is fitted has drilled braking discs. Up at the front, there are six piston callipers and at the rear there are four piston units. The wheels are eye-catching 19” BBS alloys with 255/35 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres.

Other Notable Upgrades:

There are several notable changes to the exterior of the S207 that make it look quite different to the WRX STI. The highlights are now red; there is a new mesh front grille, a large front splitter, an aggressively sporty cut rear bumper and S207 badging is prevalent. Inside the upgrades include Recaro bucket seats, black leather trim, red and silver accents, upgraded instrumentation and a commemorative plaque. There will be only 400 units available in blue pearl, white pearl or black. Subaru has stated that there will also be an additional 100 units available in an even more exclusive NBR Challenge Package Yellow edition. This package will have a suede covered steering wheel, black BBS 19” alloys and a menacing black rear spoiler. There NBR models will also have black wing mirrors and a black and yellow sill.

The Subaru WRX STI S207 Limited Edition goes on sale in Japan from March in 2016. If you’re interested in the Subaru WRX STI and would like to know more contact us.
