Subaru Levorg is Confirmed For Australian Market

Subaru Levorg INterior

If you are considering new Subaru cars for sale, Perth drivers may very soon have another great option. Subaru fans have been keen to discover whether the Japanese auto giant was planning to offer another wagon option, since the brand dropped the Liberty wagon last year. The Subaru Levorg is set to be a WRX based turbocharged wagon, which should offer both gear heads and those looking for the balance of performance and practicality happy.

According to Subaru sources, the new Levorg wagon may arrive before the end of the year at new car dealers. Perth drivers may need to wait for the official announcement. According to the unnamed source the Levorg is “due at the end of the year” but the official line is that we won’t see the Levorg this year. A Subaru Australia spokeswoman said “categorically” that the Levorg is not to be “released or on sale” this year.

The official Subaru position has not confirmed or denied that the Levorg is expected to be offered for sale locally after this year. The official position is that the model is still “under consideration”. However, with the discontinuation of the Liberty wagon, the Levorg would sit very nicely within the line up of current Subaru cars for sale. Perth drivers should expect that the Levorg would sit above the equivalent four door Subaru models. It is also anticipated that the model will feature as standard the EyeSight Subaru safety technology.

The Levorg is currently only on sale in Japan, but it is expected to begin exporting to the UK in September. According to Subaru UK, the new Levorg GT would offer a spiritual successor for the discontinued Liberty wagon. The Liberty wagon was “a firm favourite” for Subaru customers globally, so the new Levorg should receive a very enthusiastic welcome.

The team at New Zealand based, Stuff.co.nz did manage to get their hands on a new Levorg earlier this year. The review team found that the model had a 221 kW engine which provided a similar performance and pace as the WRX. The model reached 100 kilometres per hour in just 6.2 seconds. The imported test model could provide an indication of the spec expected for the Australian market. However, full specifications details have yet to be released. The UK market model is set to feature a 1.6 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine, which delivers 125 kW of power to all four wheels through the CVT automatic transmission, which is standard throughout the range.

While new car dealers, Perth drivers may visit may not have the official details as yet, it looks like the Levorg will generate some real interest as soon as the whispers are confirmed.
