The Subaru Impreza wagon is an impressive new car that has seen significant sales growth. In fact, Subaru had a fantastic sales month in July; their sales growth was unmatched by any of the other top twenty car manufacturers. They achieved a 5% share of all car sales, and the trend looks set to continue. Let’s take a look at the sales in greater detail and how Subaru is stacking up against their competition.

The Subaru Sales Figures

Figures released by VFACTS showed that the Japanese car manufacturers sales are up by 27.1% better than those in July 2016 with 4,265 units sold. This sales amount puts Subaru in 8th position for this sales month. They finished a single unit behind Kia and ahead of declining rivals, Volkswagen, Honda, and Nissan. This growth rate was the highest of any of the top twenty car manufacturer, although it should be noted that smaller brands did experience growth on a proportional basis. The annual sales for Subaru are also up by just over 10% in an overall car market that is up by 0.4%. Subaru has experienced the best sales growth of a large volume car seller alongside Kia and Honda.

The Sales Figure Breakdown

The July sales results were led by the release of the new Subaru XV, which racked up 1,138 sales in this, its first full month on sale, an increase of 88.1% over last year. The still relatively new Subaru Impreza also led the charge accounting for 914 sales. This represents an increase of 195.8% for the Impreza sales in July and 122.1% for the year to date. The Outback is still selling strongly with 907 sales for July an increase of 3.4% and the new BRZ sales are up by 73.1% for the year to date.

The Reaction

Understandably, Subaru Australia is in high spirits regarding these fantastic sales figures. The managing director of Subaru Australia Colin Christie said, “customer response to our new generation car is just phenomenal” he then added, “with the WRX, WRX STI and Levorg lineups just revealed we’re very excited about maintaining this momentum.” The Western Australia sales region showed sales growth of 41.5% in July, and it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more Subaru cars driving on our streets.
