More Details Released on the 2016 Subaru Levorg

The 2016 Subaru Levorg is a highly anticipated release here in Australia. Many Subaru enthusiasts have wondered how close the specification will be to the Levorg released in Japan. However, Subaru has been quite cagey with the information that they have released so far, but there are some concrete details that we do know. If you are looking forward to the new Levorg, always remember that Subaru car finance offers some great financing options for your next car purchase.

The Powertrain and Engine

When the 2016 Subaru Levorg, arrives in the showroom later in the year, it will have the exact same powertrain as the Subaru WRX. The engine will be a 2.0 litre turbocharged “Boxer” affair that will generate 197kW of power and 350Nm of torque. Although it is powerful, the engine lacks the grunt of the Japanese model which can generate 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque. Earlier reports indicated that there would be a six speed manual version, however it is now understood that only a CVT automatic with a paddle shift will be available.

A Choice of Specifications?

Leaked documents and rumours have show that there will probably be two different flavours of Levorg to choose from. The first will be an entry level GT model that will have 17” wheels and a more standard feature set. The next model will be a higher spec GT-S model that will ride on 18” wheels and feature leather trim and other extras. Obviously, the GT-S will cost more than its affordable sibling, and both vehicles will have the signature All Wheel Drive functionality that Subaru drivers know and love. Although the full specification and pricing have yet to be released, we won’t have much longer to wait. Subaru has stated that the Levorg will be launched mid way through this year, and then all our questions will be answered.

A WRX Wagon?

Despite being slightly less powerful than the Japanese model, the 2016 Levorg is the closest that Australia will ever get to a genuine WRX wagon. The initial rumours were that the Levorg would be powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged powerplant which would have been a disappointment for most potential buyers. However, the 2.0 litre “Boxer” engine is a great fit that will provide plenty of power and performance. Demand is anticipated to be high for this vehicle when it arrives in Australia, so it is a good idea to register your interest early and book a test drive in advance with us here at City Subaru.
