3 Top Tips for Negotiating at the Subaru Demo Sale

We all enjoy a good bargain, especially if we can make great savings on a big ticket item. Subaru demo cars represent excellent value for money; they have only been used as demonstrators at the dealership and usually have low mileages. Despite this, a demo car will have a virtually a full warranty and servicing available. We are running a Subaru demo sale now, so here are three top tips for negotiating great deals with car dealers.

1. Location is Key

If you’re looking for Subaru demo cars, you will find a great deal at Perth City Subaru. For everyone else, location is a key factor in negotiating a great car deal. Car dealers have a Prime Market Area (PMA), and they are incentivised by the manufacturer to sell to people in that area. Once you have an idea of which car you want, pick three dealers that are increasing distances away from your home. Look at the furthest dealer first and work your way back to the closest one. By the time you’ve got to the nearest dealer, you will know how what your car should cost. Usually, the closest dealer will have the best price because of the PMA. If for some reason, one of the dealers that is further away has a better price, you can use your lower quote as negotiating leverage. If you end up buying a car from further away, you could still arrange your servicing at a closer dealer for your convenience.

2. Use Careful Timing :

Many people believe that car dealers make their main profits on the release of new cars. Actually, the after sales, servicing, and other extras are big money spinners. Manufacturers award bonuses for selling extras and the sales are calculated for monthly and annual targets. Shopping for a car at the end of the month or the year is the perfect time to snag a bargain. However, this could backfire if the dealer has already hit the set targets and they are not as desperate to finish your deal.

3. Watch the Extras

Work out a budget and stick to your guns, the car dealer may offer you loads of extras, and they may be excellent. However, don’t overspend on extras that you don’t need or cannot afford. If you feel pressured, you can always excuse yourself and take some time to think about the deal on offer. If it all sounds good, you can return to the dealership in a day or two and continue the negotiations.
