Subaru has announced a limited run of models that are now on sale in America. The Subaru WRX and WRX STI have a Series Gray variant that has a unique exterior and several equipment enhancements to tempt buyers. Sadly, the Series Gray variants will not be available here in Australia, but it’s always interesting to look at cars like this. Sometimes variants are made available in different countries at a later date and featured enhancements can even find their way into future standard models. Let’s take a closer look at these WRX and WRX STI variants and see what they have to offer.
The Series.Gray
This variant was launched at the latest Subaru Tecnica International Boxerfest recently. The Series Gray production will be strictly limited to 750 WRX models and 250 WRX STi models. They will only be available for sale in the U.S., and they will be arriving at North American Subaru dealerships sometime in fall.
The WRX Series Gray will have an exclusive six speed manual transmission and other interesting premium features, such as Ultrasuede Recaro seats, eight way power adjustments for the driver, adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lights, keyless access, push button start and Jurid front brake pads. There will be a Cool Gray Khaki exterior paint job, Crystal Black Silica side mirrors and badging. The look will be completed with a striking black finish on the 18” alloy wheels.
The WRX STI Series Gray has the same aesthetically pleasing exterior finishes as the WRX variant, but it has 19” alloy wheels treated with the same black finish. The WRX STI version gets other exciting features, such as: Ultrasuede seat trims, Carbon Black leather bolsters, an Ultrasuede steering wheel with red stitches, Brembo brake calipers, Bilstein STI tuned sports suspension (unique to this release), an eight way power driver’s seat, keyless entry and a push button start.
An Australian Release
Subaru has confirmed the Series Gray as an exclusive U.S. release, and there are no plans to bring it here. However, future special editions of the Subaru WRX and Subaru WRX STI could well have some of these features in the future. Let’s hope that we see some special editions here in the years to come.
