Your Guide to the 2017 Subaru Impreza

Many brands use the “all new” phrase when there is actually very little new about their forthcoming model. However, Subaru has a fantastic reputation for innovation, so when the All New Impreza arrived in showrooms, motoring experts recognised that this was sure to be impressive. So, whether you are considering the hatch or sedan, here is your guide to the 2017 Impreza, so you can see for yourself if it is the right choice for you.

The All New Platform:

The most obvious All New feature of the 2017 Subaru Impreza is that it is the first model launched on the new Subaru modular platform. This platform will be underpinning the range of next generation Subaru models until 2025. It offers a more premium cabin with increased tech and a different drivetrain.
Subaru has stated that a massive 95 percent of the components on the new Impreza platform is brand new. The brand claims that only some casings, nuts, bolts and other hidden bits and pieces have been carried over from the outgoing model. However, Subaru enthusiasts can relax as the staple elements are still present. The new Impreza still features a symmetrical configuration with all wheel drive and a 60:40 torque split. Additionally, while the drivetrains are different, they have retained similarities.

Performance:

The value of the new Subaru Impreza for sale is also improved, with a starting cost of $22,400. However, these cost savings have not been at the expense of performance or comfort. The model is equipped with a normally aspirated, direct injection 2.0 litre petrol engine. This delivers 115 kW of power, which is up by 4.5 percent. This is matched to a standard CVT and permanent AWD.
Fuel consumption is between 6.6 and 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres on a combined cycle. This more frugal consumption is partly due to the well damped new stop start system. Yet, this modest engine provides plenty of zip to negotiate around town or hit the highway.

The Cabin:

Inside the cabin, there are obvious upgrades and improvements. The cabin feels more premium with more high tech features and innovations. The base model is equipped with a 6.3 inch touch screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, 17 inch alloys, rear view camera, steering wheel buttons and seven airbags as standard.
All variants have been awarded the maximum five star ANCAP safety rating, but if you upgrade trim level, you will find even more safety features including EyeSight.
