For anyone wanting some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life, these 7 Perth camping grounds are your ticket to a stunning night under the stars.

1. Guilderton Caravan Park

Drive from Perth: 70 mins

Camping amenities: Full range of RV services and tent camping facilities, small chalets and laundry, and a General Store within walking distance.

Highlights: Located right next to the stunning Moore River Estuary, campers staying at this relaxed site can enjoy a calm boat trip up the river to discover some of WA’s best sand dunes, an afternoon hanging out in the vibrant surf of Guilderton Beach, or drive over to Guilderton’s golf course for an afternoon on the green. If you’re feeling lucky, cast a line into the river for your chance of catching some Black Bream – the river is positively full of them.

Camping amenities: 12 tent-on sites, universal access, picnic tables, camping kitchen, hot showers, and toilets. No pets or camper vans are allowed on site.

Highlights: Only a short drive away, the Perth Hills Discovery Centre is the ideal gateway to some of Perth’s most stunning hiking and biking trails, including the Bibbulmun Track. The campsite itself is nestled deep in the native jarrah forests and offers stunning views of C Y O’Connor Lake and Mundaring Weir. The Beelu National Park is also home to some of Western Australia’s most unique wildlife and flora, making it one of the best places to go camping near Perth, or simply wanting an escape after a long week in the office.


3. Boddington Caravan Park


Drive from Perth: 60 mins

Camping amenities: Free WiFi, camp kitchen, barbecues, laundry, toilets, pet friendly.

Highlights: If you’re hoping to really escape the city, Boddington is the ideal distance away from the hustle and bustle, so you’ll really feel like you’re immersed in nature. Located on the stunning Hotham River, enjoy lazy afternoons on the river canoeing, or hiking through wildflower-dense forests which boast some unique birdlife and other natural attractions. Explore local cafes and restaurants, and discover Boddington’s historical gold mine with local tours. and make sure to visit the tranquil Randford pool for a picnic and a dip.


4. Yarragil Campground, Lane Poole Reserve


Drive from Perth: 100 mins

Camping amenities: Picnic tables, toilets, pet friendly.

Highlights: Located deep within Lane Poole Reserve and surrounded by the Dwellingup State Forest, Yarragil Campground is one of the less frequented and smaller campsites in the area. But that’s exactly the charm. This small campsite is ideally located on the banks of the Murray River – offering fantastic hiking, fishing, and canoeing opportunities. On hot days, slide into the cool waters to wash off the day’s activities, or take a stroll along the rapids and find a shaded area for a picnic.


5. Lake Leschenaultia camping site


Drive from Perth: 50 mins

Camping amenities: Hot showers, toilets, barbecues, picnic tables, family friendly, disabled access, small campers allowed, pets not allowed.

Highlights: Situated on the eastern side of Leschenaultia Conservation Park, and with the stunning fresh-water lake Leschenaultia within walking distance, this campsite is teeming with fun activities for all age groups. Whether that’s canoeing over the lake, hiking through stunning wild forests, or mountain biking along the many trails that surround the lake – this campsite is ideal for a day or weekend trip away from home. There’s even a cafe there if your self-made cold brew fails to hit the spot in the morning.



6. Pinjarrah Holiday Park

Camping amenities: 70 powered grass sites, barbecues, camp kitchens, onsite laundry, TV coverage.

Highlights: Only an hour’s drive from Perth CBD and you’re at Pinjarrah Holiday Park – even closer if you’re living in Mandurah. This well-equipped camping ground is the perfect spot to get away from it all. With 600 acres of grassed area, let the dog off the leash and marvel at the old gum trees that dot the site, creating a lush, cool atmosphere – the perfect place to pull out a book and get comfy for the day. With plenty of native wildlife roaming around, spend the evening spying on kangaroos, or wander down to the Murray River and watch the sun setting over the distant horizon.

Camping amenities: Picnic tables, wood-fired barbecues, eco toilets, pet friendly, no fresh drinking water.

Highlights: The Marrinup Townsite Campground is located only a short drive from Dwellingup, deep in the native forests, with its doorstep to the Marrinup Loop Mountain Bike Trail and the Munda Biddi mountain bike trail – it’s a mountain biker’s dream campsite. And there’s plenty more around here to catch your eye too. A historical Prisoner of War camp just north of the campsite offers an insight into how German and Italian soldiers were kept under lock and key during the Second World War. For a lighter holiday vibe, go for a bushwalk through the unique native forests, or drive into Dwellingup town to sample some of the local produce at the many mouth watering eateries scattered around town.
