Details of the 2019 Subaru Forester Revealed

Subaru Forester used models represent a great prospect, but there is nothing quite like a brand new Forester. While enthusiasts have embraced the Subaru Forester 2018 range, many have been eagerly awaiting news of the fifth generation 2019 model. Fortunately, the wait is over as details have finally been revealed.

The Powertrain

The new Subaru Forester will feature an upgraded naturally aspirated 2.5 litre four cylinder petrol unit. This offers 136 kW of power and 239 Nm of torque. Subaru has made the claim that this engine contains 90 percent new components compared to the unit on the Subaru Forester 2018 range. The power is sent to all the wheels through the continuously variable transmission.

The Exterior

The new Subaru Forester sits on the Subaru Global Platform that was also used on the new XV. This means that the new Forester now measures 4625 mm in length on a 2670 mm wheelbase. There is also an impressive 220mm ground clearance. These proportions have also provided wider openings for your rear doors and a steep C pillar for easier entry. However, the turning radius is still a modest 5.4 metres.
There are also new alloys to complete the exterior aesthetics.

The Cabin

Inside the cabin, there are new USB charging ports, an 8.0 inch infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and navigation, combination console and instrument panel and new AC Human Machine Interface.
The Forester has also been fitted with a new locking system that closes the rear gate automatically and can lock your vehicle with a single touch of a button.

The Safety Tech

Subaru’s driver recognition technology is a first in the Forester’s safety package. The new Driver Management System not only detects driver fatigue but also adjusts door mirror angles, air conditioner preferences, and seat position automatically.
The other features of this extensive safety package include reverse automatic brakes that aim to help avoid any collisions when reversing, steering response headlights, rear vehicle detection system, EyeSight driver assist, and high beam assist systems.

When Will We Know More?

The new Subaru Forester range is due to arrive in local showrooms in September, so we are likely to receive even more details in the coming months, to further whet our appetites. The full specification and pricing will be announced for the Australian release before the launch. Unfortunately, for now, we’ll just need to be patient and wait.

If you would like to find out more about the Subaru Forester, you should call in and see us. We have a fantastic range of Subaru Forester used and brand new models. The Perth City Subaru sales team is ready to answer any queries you may have about this exciting new model, discuss finance options or arrange your test drive.
