The 2017 New Subaru Liberty S-Edition Unveiled

subaru liberyt 2016

The Subaru S-Edition badge has been slowly introduced onto carefully selected cars across the Subaru stable. The latest recipient is the new Subaru Liberty, and this car is likely to be in demand. The S-Edition adds a lot of interesting extras making it a more premium offering than other models in the Liberty range. Let’s take a closer look at what is on offer, the availability, and pricing for the Liberty S-Edition.

The Liberty S-Edition Specifications:

Those Subaru fans already familiar with the popular WRX S-Edition pack will notice some similarities here. The Liberty S-Edition has the same 2.5 litre four cylinder “boxer” powerplant that we are already familiar with. As one would expect, this engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and the ubiquitous Subaru all wheel drive (AWD) system. The main changes have been made in the styling and some additional functionality that is not available on the base models. On the exterior, we can see: a new mesh grille, an STI spec lower splitter, tinted glass and 18” wheels. Inside the cabin, we find: S-Edition badging, S-Edition branded mats and an STI shifter for good measure.

Australian Availability:

The new Subaru Liberty S-Edition is available in showrooms here right now. The stock has been strictly limited to only 100 units for the whole of Australia, so interested Subaru fans should act early to avoid disappointment. This attractive sportier Liberty sedan costs around $2,000 more than the Liberty 2.5i Premium, coming in at $38,240 plus on roads.

A Word on the Fleet Edition Pack:

The S-Edition is lining up alongside the new Liberty and Outback Fleet Edition pack models. As you can probably guess from the moniker, these cars in the lineup are squarely aimed at the fleet market. Essentially, these cars are lower specified 2.5i models that have satellite navigation added as a standard feature. These fleet editions have a premium of $520 on the Liberty and $535 on the Outback on top of their premium versions. Subaru is anticipating sales of 100 units per month for these new fleet additions. The next release for the Liberty sedan and Outback is due here in 2018 when facelifted version will be available.
